TOP 3 White
In Portugal it is common to find blend wines, whether reds or whites. There are few grape varieties that have become known individually but we want to highlight the ones we consider most relevant and, of course, tasty: Alvarinho, Encruzado and Antão Vaz.
Alvarinho is, without a doubt, a higher quality grape variety, being reponsible for creating fruity wines, with ripe citrus and tropical fruit aromas, and of great freshness. And as for Encruzado, the variety has recently become a favourite amongst critics much due to its similarities with the international variety
Chardonnay. Even though it is not very aromatic it is capable of handling well the vinification and the ageing in oak barrels.
The Antão Vaz variety that, together with Arinto, is part of the classical Alentejo region blend, is also one of our favourite white varieties. It is capable of producing full, voluminous and with ripe stone fruit wines that definitively make a memory.
