Quinta do Vallado is another producer that in recent years has emancipated itself and started bottling its own brand of Port wine. A house of great prestige in the Douro valley, it is located at the entrance of the Douro region in a cooler area and perhaps this characteristic is reflected in the wine, which seems fresher than the previous ones, with balsamic and floral notes (perhaps a higher percentage of Touriga Nacional in the blend). Having said that, it maintains the typical core of a Vintage: ripe black fruit, concentration and powerful but tamed tannins that make it able to last for years in the cellar. For the impatient, now it accompanies perfectly chocolate and red fruit desserts.
